Who Started LifeInCharge.com?
Hello! My name is Jeffrey James and I’m the creator of LifeInCharge.com.
For many years I had been frustrated by the gap between where I wanted my life to be, and where it was. I could see all of the potential avenues to a life of freedom, one where I didn’t feel like I was constantly running on a treadmill — working hard, but getting nowhere.
I’m not lazy, either — I would put in countless hours studying real estate, marketing, investing, and pursuing various side projects. I wanted to get to a place where I was in control of my greatest asset: my time.
Instead, I spent hours in a cubicle each day increasing my likelihood of getting carpal tunnel. I wanted a way to break the cycle of work, sleep, pay bills, repeat.
I spent time searching for that elusive magical overnight path to the life I had imagined, even though in the back of my mind I knew it didn’t exist. And then I had a revelation.
It’s the little things that count.
Okay, so it’s not the most profound realization, but it’s like when something that you’ve known for a long time finally clicks, and it’s like getting smacked in the face with the obviousness and the significance of it all at once.
So, this made me take a different approach. Rather than spending my entire life trying to find a cosmic shortcut, I should be realistic and use the many shortcuts that I already know.
Now That’s Common Sense.
Wouldn’t you know it, that got me moving in the right direction, and I was able to start seeing results. I was able to become more productive, get on top of my finances, and find the time to maintain my health. All by following a few simple principles (along with a few clever tricks, too).
I felt more free than I had in a long time.
Now, I continue to come up with simple and manageable principles to help me stay in charge of my life. And I’ve created this blog as a place to document everything that I’ve learned.
- In the Health section, I’ll share what has helped me to stay fit (I was able to run my first marathon in November 2012). I believe that good health is a big part of feeling free.
- In the Finances section, I will NOT show you how to “get rich quick”. I don’t believe this is really possible, aside from winning the lottery or inheriting a huge estate. And even then, if you don’t know how to manage that money, you’ll quickly find yourself right back where you started. I WILL share what has helped me to keep control of my monthly finances. I believe that you must have control of your finances before you will ever feel free. (And for those that are interested in gradually increasing their income, I will share a few of the best routes that I’ve come across in my research.)
- In the Productivity section, I will share proven tips and tricks that I use to stay on top of whatever life throws at me. I believe that you need to know how to get the most out of yourself if you want to feel free.
Remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint.
